Hello. Please look at this synopsis of my situation:

a. About 2.5 weeks ago I got my period as normal, however, I had been feeling very weird and thought I might be pregnant. Period came, although 2 days late, however I tested with a HPT the day before the period and came out negative.

b. After 7 days the bleeding changed to brown spotting...definitely not normal...took multiple more HPTs that were negative, as I thought maybe I was miscarrying and wanted to see if any sign of this.

c. Still spotting. Decided I would call doctor Monday to get in (know I should have done before, but just switched positions in company...high-stress type atmosphere), however, Friday, on a whim I took another test (hadn't taken one since the Monday before)...came out positive with a LIGHT line...have taken one yesterday and today and the lines are getting stronger and stronger...

Very confused. Because of the spotting, believe might have miscarried, but why would it wait so long to show up...too, the last couple days I have spotted less...

Any ideas?

hopefully u haven't miscarried.
there are women who have bleeding, even full-blown periods while pregnant. i hope that is the case for you. your doctor can do a blood test to determine that.
good luck and congrats!

You may have ovulated later than you thought, and the bleeding might have been implantation bleeding. I think it's probable that, since your lines on the HPT's are getting stronger/darker, you probably did not miscarry and are still pregnant. I believe that brown spotting during pregnancy is not considered a cause for concern, only red spotting or bleeding, and since that is no longer happening, you are probably okay. You should have a blood test to confirm your pregnancy, and also talk to a doctor to verify that everything is okay.

Congratulations and good luck!

Just wandered how things were going and if the spotting has ceased yet? Also if you managed to get into your doctors?

Hopefully as Caedmyn says it was implantation spotting, i have known one person to have AF up until she was 4 months pg so im keeping my fingers crossed for you :)

Good luck :)

Hello. I went to the doctor this morning, however, I am going to have to go to an obgyn next week...I have an HMO and have to wait for my referral to come through...the doctor thought everything looked fine and that the bleeding was not very much...she said she could not see any blood while peering inside with the speculum...so I guess I'll have to wait and see what happens...I am definitely changing my healthcare coverage next year...I have never had to see a specialist before and what a pain this is...

Sorry to sound stupid but whats a HMO?

So is the doctor saying that you are pg going by your hpt?

I believe an HMO is kind of like the US's privatized version of England's health care system. Basically whatever company you have insurance through has a network of health care providers and you pretty much have to go to whoever they tell you to in order for the care to be covered, and you have to be referred for specialized care.

Health Maintenance Organization...it's a type of insurance we can chose where we have a primary care physician...if you need a specialist, they request one from the HMO and it takes a few days...I've always been really healthy and such, so it made sense to take the cheaper option, however, right now I am regretting it.

The doctor said it appears I am pg, but the obgyn needs to confirm and see if anything is wrong...

It's going to be hard waiting until next Wed...

I don't know if this will help you or not. But the exact same thing happened to me when I was pregnant with my 2nd child.
I was late, and had taken a pregnancy test which came out positive, later that night, some spotting, which I assumed was the "attachment" but it didn't stop. I had to intense cramping or anything like that, infact, no pain at all. I did go to the doctor who said that I had lost the baby, and not to worry about "missing" a period or two, for my body to get back on track. 4 months later I still hadn't had a period. I went to a diffrent doctor, and they said that I was 4 1/2 months pregnant, and explained that what "probably" (they say that because there's no way to know for sure) happened, was that I was carring twins, and one passed, and my son Jaydyn stayed. I have birth to him via C-section (breech baby) he's healthy, and now 1 1/2! I hope that everything works out for you, and possibly this helped.
Good luck

I actually ended up going to see the specialist today, who indicates I will have an ultrasound tomorrow to see what is going on...at this point he can't tell if I am possibly miscarrying, an ectopic, or just some bleeding that is nothing to worry about...they also can't figure out when I conceived, as I started my period on the 31st as expected (only 2 days late) and have been bleeding ever since...
