Hi

Does taking Biotin and vit b's just make the hair on your head grow fast & thicker? Or does it do it all over the body? I don't want to be an ape!

I'm currently taking Biotin 500mcg a day.

Thanks heaps!

500mcg of biotin is hardly enough to make a difference. You need to take 3 to 5 grams to make a difference in your hair. which translates to 3000 to 5000 mcg,

Ok thanks, so what difference will that make to the hair on your head (hopefully knowhere else)?

I have and have had most of my life thin hair on my head, I just wanted to make it a bit thicker.

Thanks!

Biotin helps with processing cardohydrate and protein metabolism. It works on the good bacteria in the intestines. It usually only works (supposidly) if you have an uderlying skin condition (ie. seborrhic dermatitis). It did help me though (and didn't think I had an underlying problem)..after recovering from anorexia. Good luck!

PS: I noticed new hair growth (obvious) but the hair itself didn't get thicker (each strand) but now over a year later (my hair is thicker allover..because there is more of it)! ;)

Well im a 25 year old guy. My Father is 69 - has a full head of hair. My mom is 59...err i mean 29 ;) and has a full head of hair. All of my uncles have full hair (white, but full). At 20 I started getting a "bald spot". Since Im so skinny, my thyroid was tested - normal. Hormones - normal.
Ive tried biotin and the only thing it accoplished for me is making my stomach queasy. I didnt notice a lick of difference in my hair/nails or anything. I used it for about 3 or 4 months too. The ONLY thing that has actually worked for me is this:

Using Rogaine Max strength in morning and night.

Using "thicker fuller hair" shampoo and conditioner. They sell it at wal-mart or CVS and Meijers. IT really does make your hair appear thicker!!

I also have allergies and skin problems (dermatitis, exczema). So I was trying to kill two birds with one stone with the Biotin and basically it was a waste of time.
