Hi all,

This is the drug my father will be given this week. Does anyone know anything about this treatment? I've been to the webpage but wanted to see if anyone here knows about this firsthand.

Thanks and God Bless.

Lori, I did the same thing when my doctor wanted to put me on Avastin. I read all I could, and the side affects really scared me. Did not really want to do this, but my doctor was determined and assured me that all the people they had taken it was not having any problems. So we addrd it to my regular routine, and so far it has worked very well. Is your dad taking any other chemo? They gave me my fulfox first than the Avastin. First time you take avastin it takes an hour and a half. Second time one hour and third time 30 minutes. It is a mouse protien so they start it slow to see how well your body will tolerated it. I had three regular folfox with avastin, and I was getting pretty sick again from the chemo so we have droped the fulfox and I have had two treatments of just the avastin. No bad affects from it. My doctor says it works well on some of his patients, and some it is not. In two months I will have a CT to see if just the Avastin is working or if I will have to add the chemo back. Don't be afraid to give it a try as it might be able to help your dad. Talked to a guy the other day who has had 21 treatments of fulfox and avastin and is in remission now. No ill affects, so is worth a try. Wishing go luck to you dad and you. Let me know if I can be of any further help. God Bless, DJ

DJ,

Thank you for the reply! I just found out that my father is on chemo but I don't know what kind. I'm going to try and get the names. They will not start Avastin until after this round of chemo is finished. My stepmother doesn't know when this will end but right now he goes in on Tuesday for blood check, 4-5 hours of chemo Wed/Thurs, along with a total of 22 hours of something else through his port. The nurse comes and picks up the port on Fridays. Then he has a week off and it starts all over. They will do a CT Scan and MRI I guess to see if this chemo treatment is working and then onto Avastin. I don't know why they haven't started him on Avastin yet. I was surprised to hear about it today!

God Bless you DJ and everyone else suffering with this. It is nice to hear of the success of others. Thank God. My father has no more options other than chemo and Avastin. Surgery and radiaiton are now out of the question because he's had enough.

Thanks again,
Lori
