Hi All, Its been a few weeks since I've been on the board and got curious how everyone is improving!!! Its so easy to forget cause this stuff is slow in the healing but lets share the details that only those with inner ear can appreciate!!

Mine: Lights don't bother me as much and that is a big improvement!! I can also read more. Crowds don't bother me as much....I still want out of the stores but not as fast .I smile more... :)

Hey there Jade!!
I was honestly just thinking of you yesterday and wondering if you were still out there but didn't post so I'm glad you did!
Great to hear things are improving for you...I'm going to make it my mission to find every scrap of medical literature that says recovery time takes "6 weeks" and personally burn them all...(Just kidding)
As for me I have been driving lately without freaking out which is a wonderful thing...had a bit of headache for a few days and dizziness/anxiety kicked up a little but nothing too major.
And the best thing is, the fog has lifted somewhat. And I hope that continues because I really like to have my wits about me, how about you?
I'm so glad you posted!

glad to hear that you are doing better, Jade. And you, too, Elisabeth!

I've been doing better as well. My VRT is helping a lot, and I think I have most of my anxiety under control. I still have some freaky moments, but in general I feel like a whole different person than I did 6 months ago. I went outlet shopping on Saturday and lasted 4 hours before I had to throw in the towel. I think some of my recovery is just getting used to and accepting the fact that I can't always do what I did a year ago, but I still have hope that I may get back there someday. With that said... I'm going on an all day white water rafting trip this weekend... I feel crazy for signing up, but I also don't want to deny myself fun things anymore.

Great to hear you guys are all doing better!

Cori, how long have you been doing the VRT and how long was it before you noticed an improvement? I'm just into my 3rd week of VRT and have noticed a slight improvement in a couple of things, for example, I can now walk down a flight of stairs without having to always look down at where I'm putting my feet, I can look ahead of myself and even glance around a little. Before, if I took my eyes off my feet, I had to stop dead and grab the handrail!

hi Julie,
I've been doing VRT for about a month. I have to admit that I was feeling some improvement by the time I actually got my referral and had to wait for my first VRT appt., but it's helped a lot over the past month.
I have a 45 minute drive to work everyday, so once I was able to do that on my own I noticed some improvement, but after I went to VRT I noticed that I was able to walk in straight lines again and sit in a restaurant without rocking back and forth like I was on a boat. I had trouble with stairs as well, but that's getting better for me, too!
I have another VRT appt. tomorrow morning... she said that she's running out of new stuff to give me... which is okay, because it eats up almost 2 hours of my day now. I can't complain though, it's worth it.
Glad to hear your VRT is helping you, too!

HI everyone
I thought Id take the opportunity of this thread to update everyone on how I am. I had vertigo in November 04 leading to VN. It took me ages to recover enough to go back to work - mid Jan, I had relapse in Feb and recently in April, although each time its been easier. Not driving far now. Things that have gotten easier though are: reading, lights, meetings - I contribute a lot now wheras first I didn't so much, I can manage a full day work and in work respects I pull my weight. My confidence is much improved - my boss said when I was first back at work I seemed to have lost much of my confidence. I do feel better, although I am very tired now - 2 days of really hectic meetings and work. Im a bit shaky at the moment - its a bit off and on. Im not so swayey but I do get the feeling that Im moving sometimes. A bit of eyes being 'off', maybe not seeing quite right. I am trying to get back to some normality. The worst is the tiredness and shakyness at the moment.

Thanks for reading, its good to see how far we have come, and good for me to have a bit of a moan!
Hope you are well. Good to hear of good improvements of others.

Tess,
Glad to hear that you are somewhat getting back to normal. I know what you mean about the lingering effects. I still have days when I feel so off-balance and shaky also. I still feel like I might pass out when I am in stores. I can drive, but I have to pay close attention and be careful. I keep wondering if it is normal for it to last so long and if it will go away! I am seeing the neuro-oto, but I don't have a definate diagnosis yet. Sometimes, I let my mind wander and start thinking it may be something worse. I just feel so tired alot of the time. I wake up and wonder when I can take a nap!! My symptoms sound so similar to yours that I am sure it is either VN, Labs or BPPV. I hope you continue to improve and also all the rest of us here!
