Anyone else out there have this (three or more in a row)? I just had my third miscarriage in 5 months and my doctor isn't concerned and doesn't want to see me until I have my period. I'm not sure why he wants me to wait.

Did anyone else have any testing done after their miscarriages (other than HCG and blood counts)?

This is my fifth loss total (I had two previous losses) and I can't understand why my doctor isn't alarmed.

He has never had me send anything to pathology before either (I saved everything I passed).

I have always had normal predictable 35 day cycles but now I bleed from day one of my period until I ovulate (21 days out of every cycle). I also bleed heavier with activity and sex but my doctor said not to do anything different    .

I am 28 years old and have had healthy pregnancies previously. Suddenly I'm unable to maintain a pregnancy and my doctors aren't concerned (I have four doctors due to an ongoing undiagnosed medical condition).

If anyone can help me understand this I'd appreciate it.

Love and Prayers, Kelly

i've never had this but i've heard of people who have, and their doctors have all run multiple tests to find out what it is. the chances that this is all coincidental are rare. it could be something simple. one person was smart enough to make her doctor test her after the second m/c, and guess what it was? a simple lack of folic acid. she had to have a special diet for two months prior to conception, and bingo. another was a progesterone deficiency. all very simple things to fix, but w/out tests, you'll never know.

i think your doctor should be concerned. if he has reason to believe that there's nothing wrong, he should share this w/ you. if he is simply being dispassionate and inconsiderate, get a new doctor, and do it asap.

good luck, kelly.

After I had my miscarriage I asked my doctor, what are the chances of me having another miscarriage, he said the same as anyone else on the street. Then he said but, if you have 3 or more in a row it is cause for concern and that we will need to run test. So the whole point I am trying to get at is that I am sure any other doctor would have test run on you at this point. If I were you I would change doctors as soon as you can, get into another doctors office. Why keep putting yourself through the heart break of a miscarriage if you do not have to, if it is something easy to solve and your doctor is just looking it over.

I've been calling around but am having a hard time finding anyone that will see me. They want to wait until I have my first period. Does anyone have any idea what the reasoning behind this is?

I have requested a clotting panel, hormone testing and a referral to an endocrinologist. All of which has been denied. Each doctor tells me to have the other doctor do the tests. When I inform them that's what the other doctor said they schedule me for a consultation. I have one on Friday with my PCP and am supposed to schedule one with the OB "when I start my period".

These appointments are specifically to talk about "what I expect to be done". Sheesh, I'M not the doctor, THEY are  .

I am in the process of switching to a different PCP (I never see the doctor, only the PA and am growing tired of suboptimal care). It's such a pain to start all over but I can't keep losing babies.

Thank you for your encouragment. I do appreciate it! I desperately want to become pregnant in August (May baby) and am hoping to get this resolved soon.

Hi Kelly, I just suffered from my 2nd miscarriage in December. My doctor didn't mess around and sent me for lots of test! Thank Goodness!!!, but I had to wait until after my first period before I could get the testing done! They make you wait so everything is back to normal and nothing interfers with the testing! My results came back as folic acid deficiency something very simple to fix! Have to take a RX folic acid pill daily and 3 months prior to tryin to conceive again then thru out my pregnancy! Here are the test they performed on me Anti-Nuclear AB, Anti-Cardiolipin AB, DRVV, SSA-SSB Antibody, MTHFR, TSH, T3 Free, T4 Free, and thyroid AB Group. It truly could be something simple...from folic acid deficiency to a thyroid problem to a vitamin deficiency. I hope this is not the case, but are you sure your not straining your body to much?....3 miscarriages in 5 months.. I'm sure could really put some strain on your system! Perhaps your not allowing your body enough time to heal from miscarriage to miscarriage. I know every Dr is different, but mine recommends to wait 2-3 months after a miscarriage before trying again. I wish you the best of luck!

Hello! My doctor only recommends waiting through one cycle before trying again and only then to date the pregnancy.

The second pregnancy was entirely unintentional. I had been bleeding and stopped for a day (thought I was done) and had intercourse. I started bleeding again so didn't even consider preg as a possibility. I tested positive a few weeks later (took the test because I was feeling ill and my breasts were sore; doctor did HCGs to confirm).

I then waited through two full cycles and became pregnant again. Prenancy lasted 6 weeks 1 day.

I had two miscarriages in the past and became pregnant again before I cycled and carried both pregnancies without complication to full term.

I have also always had normal, predictable 35 day cycles and I now bleed for 21 days. So I don't think it's due to not giving it enough time; there seems to be something else going on.

I take a high quality prenatal with folic acid and a b-complex and my levels less than a year ago were normal (>24). My diet is also very healthful so I doubt it's nutritional.

It seems that clotting factors wouldn't be affected by a miscarriage. There just seems to be a lot of testing they could do right now that wouldn't be impacted by the recent loss. I realize it's more convenient for them to do it all at once but I'm not particularly concerned with what's convenient for them.

Thank you for your suggestions though I do appreciate it! I just have so many other things going on as well and wonder if it's all related. Hopefully, I'll be able to find out soon.

My husband caries a translocated gene that if passed to a baby results in miscarriage he did not find out until we had genetic studies down because we were going to have a baby together and I carry a genetic problem in my family. He was shocked. He and his first wife had only one child my stepdaughter but he and his wife had 6 miscarriages with Dr. saying only it happens. The stress destroyed their marriage. While at the time there was nothing they could have done ( now they could have their fertile eggs tested and only implant those without the problem) it would have helped to have a reason it kept happening.
