I am having an op to have my bones pinned in my r foot with bone taken from my hip to fill the spaces i have arthritis in my foot which is agony whenever i walk,i have had my name put down cant wait to have the operation then i wont be in such pain hope i can have it done in 6 weeks hols how long is the waiting list;ect will be in plaster for six weeks then in a soft shoe afterwards i dont mind as long as my pain will be gone do u know how long the operation takes to do anyone?

How long are u kept in hospital would like to know too? :bouncing:

are you having a fusion????? Is that why the bone graft?????

Hi Irene,

Do you mean the waiting list to actually get the surgery performed? If so, that would depend on the place where you are going, your surgeon, etc. If you mean the recovery time that would depend on the type of surgery are you having and a whole lot of other things.

Also, what they of surgery are you having? How long it would take will vary by the type of procedure and by how much work needs to be done. Most places do outpatient surgery nowadays... I don't hear of many people with foot surgeries staying overnight in the hospital but again, that would depend on what you are having done.

Yes iam having a fusion done and have had my name put on waiting list N G Sheffield
iam having a graft done from my hip to fill in the spaces caused by arthritis also pins put in to hold my metatarsel bones together hope to get this done before six weeks holidays so i can rest as am in agony cant wait is not soon enough doc said a big op am hoping for complete pain free afterwards will have to wait and see?

Sounds like you may be from somewhere in the UK? Your healthcare system is dufferent from ours int he US and am not sure we can offer much insight if that is the case.
