I will ask willsmommy to share her story as she is now 98% after having labs for over 3 years. Still waiting for my success story!!!
People DO get better!

It's been a long journey but I think I can say I am 98% cured. I still get those occasional blips and right now feeling a little more off but I am attributing it to the incredible high pollen count and have been having more than usual headaches. I have had this for about 2 1/2 years, I would say the first year was the worst year. There are definitely more success stories to follow I'm sure.
Wishing you all the best,

Kathy :p

I have had vn/labs for 11 months and for the past month - I have basically been 98% but here too the pollen is terrible and I am having to take Allegra to keep my head dried up --- but sounds like you are having the same problem. 100% ---I believe in time we will all get there. "don't worry your symptoms will pass" and you will get back to feeling better

I can say that I'm at about 95% most of the time however stress will set me back when it pops up in that it can take a couple of days to bounce back. You'll get there....just have to have the patience of a saint.

Cheers....Scott

Sure--many have--they just do not post here to often

---for me--VN to Lab turning into BPPV---(so they said)---13/14 months to full compensation---24 months at 100%----no Epley---did MEP---then VRT---with emphasis on vision---stayed active---walked alot---etc.....the key---for me---that unlocked the fix---was seeing the Univ of Penn Balance Center Team

---in my opine---the other medical types that I saw---did not have a clue/interest---if the medical types your dealing with are not engaged in the "research & clinical" effort i.e., Knowledge acquisition and then the Application of the knowledge gained to your specific inner ear injury---your betting---it is to complex.

I need some inspiration too! I just passed my 5 month date on the 15th and I can't help sometimes to just mourn the "loss" of my old self. As soon as I think I feel almost normal again, it comes back. I will be dizzy driving or feel faint in the store, plus tired all of the time. I try to stay positive and focus on the end of this, but sometimes it is hard!! I want to be at 100% at some point, but when will that time come?

Dizzy2.
I know how you feel. It will soon be 6 months for me, and yes now I feel like im a completely different person. I get so sad sometimes when I think of how I used to be. In a million years I never would have ever thought that this would have happened to me, I never even knew there was such a horrible thing as having an inner ear disorder. But I guess thats life, it changes every second, and all we can do is make the best of it. I have no idea when our time to be at 100% will come, I hope and pray its soon. Until then I live with this fear everyday that things will get worse. The fear of the unknown is one of the toughest parts of having this problem. But im going to keep pushing on trying to be as positive as I can. I wish you a speedy recovery, and I hope you are able to keep your spirits up. I started this thread as a way to get inspired.....so far its working!!! Thanks to all of you who have posted and im so glad that you all are almost at 100%! I hope to hear more inspirational stories! Take care everyone!

Thanks for your reply. I am trying to stay positive too. I keep pushing myself to keep doing things I need to do and not just lay around, which is not an option anyway. I think staying active helps. I felt terrible in the beginning when I took an Antivert. That was almost as bad as the dizziness. Let's all try to stay positive. There has to be a way to get over this!!! :p

Hi,

A happy story from me too, hope it encourages you some!
I got Labs and believe me it was as bad as you can imagine, crawling about on the floor type dizzy/vertigo for a good few months and like you describe - dizzy 24/7 for a long time - BUT I am doing just great now. I would classify myself cured so to speak. :)

Albeit I get little bits and bobs of residual symptoms that rear their head now and again. BUT its all very much a case of a few seconds here and there and then back to normal.

You will get better!

I know just how you feel as I know that about 1 and 1/2 years ago I would post on here all the time in despair and fear.

Then I met up with crazylab, subs, scotsman, esteelou, scant etc etc (no offence if I didn't include you - I will run outa space!) and realised that I was not walking the path alone and that you do get better - its just a boring fact  - that it takes as long as it takes!

BUT we do get there eventually. You just need to be as active as possible and keep a positive attitude that like most things - this too will pass.

Chin Up! Willsmom x

hi, i have posted here a couple of times. i havent been able to get a real diagnosis of labs or VN or anything, but it seems like thats what i have. i had a couple episodes of spinning vertigo a year ago, then felt ok for a month or so but then it came back. not spinning this time just dizziness along with the worst flulike illness ive ever had. ever since then i have been dizzy every day. some days worse than others, for a year. my ENG was normal, and so was every other test. how do i get a diagnosis? if i had a diagnosis, I feel like it may be easier to relax. thanks

Yes I believe that I am 98%. It took approximately two years. Stay as active as possible and get plenty of rest. I didn't do the VRT...but I stayed very active....walking, playing golf, etc.

In the beginning anxiety was extremely difficult to deal with. It was a combination of the VN and not knowing what was happening to me.

The cause of my VN was due to being stung by a wasp...went into anaphylactic shock...and had vestibular nerve damage due to limited blood flow because of the shock. It took 13 months for the doctors to finally figure it out. I finally took it upon myself to call an ENT. He listened...ordered an ENG and they found that I had a 30% deficit in my right vestibular nerve.

God Bless,

As is the nature of these inner ear things, I am up and down. If I had answered this post in the middle of last week I would have told you that I am 99%. I had a great week. THis weekend however, I am feeling pretty rough. I am also working which tends to throw me a bit, though not sure why. I have a lot of time off with my job, but work two weekends a month and nights. This shift I work 86 hours in 6 days which can completely exhaust a healthy person. It is 5:50am my time and I am just off for a 10hour day shift. I get very stressed and anxious when I am working and not feeling great, seems to compound the problems.
But if I look back at the trend of my recovery, the good days are beginning to outweight the bad which is a great sign. I know what you mean about reading stories about people who have successfully beat this thing, it is something to sink your teeth into, like hearing about Willsmommy or Subs30 really gives me hope. I know a couple of weeks ago I thought that once I was feeling better I wouldn't need to post here, but now seeing how much these people who have recovered have helped me deal with the issues around inner ear disorders, I plan of staying on a little longer.
Great idea to start this thread, staying positive is one of the best things we can do for ourselves.
