View Full Version : Hand laceration: help it heal properly

A few days ago I fell and ended up stabbing a knife into my right hand. It went in about an inch (two inches below my ring finger) and stopped at the bone. The doctor did and xray and stiched it up. She said to have the stiches taken out in a week and that was it. But my tendons feel very tight when I try and straighten my hand. Is there any exercises I can do to keep the tendond flexible and reduce possible scar tissue? Any suggestions would help! Thank you!

There are exercises you can do to get moving again, but I would suggest waiting to see your doctor before doing anything. With such a penetrating wound, I would want to be sure that you don't have a partial tendon laceration. Keep your hand elevated, monitor for infection, and follow up with the doctor.
