I posted on Women Sexual Health, but nobody answered me, maybe you viewers can. I was diagnosed with Pelvic Inflammatory Disease four days ago. I was having extreme pain with intercourse and during my annual exam was diagnosed. The doctor said the likely culprit was Chlamydia. I have been dating my boyfriend for three years and he has no symptoms. I am worried about the potential damage PID will have on me (I had been having pain for more than six months). Does anyone have any advice? Thanks.

What i know of clamydia it is so easily curable however if it progresses to the point of having PID what I have readed is that it can cause infertility (clamydia is highly destructive the the fallopian tubes). I don't say this to scare you but that is what I have readed. YOur bf for sure is infected even if he doesn't show symptoms and if you have formal diagnosis for it he will need to be treated too (just with antibiotics probably). Clamidya infections stay without symptoms for a while (I really don't know of what the incubation period is before it get's to the point you have it now) so that's why most people infected don't know they are infected. This is why is important once one is sexually active to request a comprehensive std check because a pap smear won't pick up clamidyal or gonorrea infections. I hope you get better! Please keep us posted.

I just had my follow up visit to see if the antibiotics cured my PID. Unfortunately I was still having pain on my bimanual exam. So the doctor decided to do another course of antibiotics. I am not having abdominal pain during the day, only during sex. Does anyone else know of someone who had to have several courses of antibiotics for their pelvic inflammatory disease?
 The results of my pap smear and chlamydia test were not back yet.

I am on another 10 day course of doxycycline. A week ago I received a shot of rocephin and had to drink zithromax and took one week of doxycycline.
