Kupper:
There is NO INCREASED RISK of colorectal cancer for a Diabetic. What is she talking about... never heard that one before. I have Rectal Ca, and my wife is diabetic, and I've never heard this.
Is your diabetes out of control? This, as you know can indicate Diabetic Ketoacidosis (DKA) in which your stomach will hurt A LOT. What is your latest HBA1C?

Bleeding rectally mostly is a major sign... usu. intermittently, increased frequency, incomplete evacuation (feeling like you still have to go), sometimes pain. If you are over 40 and have ANY of these signs (or 10 years before youngest person in family with cc cancer), count yourself lucky that you have a good GP who is referring you to a GI Specialist for a colonoscopy. Otherwise, if you are 50 or above, you NEED a colonoscopy.
Good luck.
