View Full Version : How do you know when to go to the ER?

Please give me advice. I have been struggling with symptoms for a long time, but my newest concerns are what seems to be vein/artery spasms (for example, the spasms in my neck feel like my artery is jumping around), tender spots in my head where I feel more vein spasms, and occasionally short sharp stabbing pain on the top of my head that only lasts a few seconds.

I was just recently told I have several superficial blood clots in my right arm and leg that are no big deal...but because of the pain I am having in those limbs and the weird tender spots/spasms in my head, I am concerned I may have some clots in my head.

I also am having these spasms in various places throughout the rest of my body. Sometimes it feels like I have an electric current in my leg veins. I developed varicose veins at a very early age, so I wonder if this has something to do with it.

I'm just not feeling right and not sure what to do about it. My doctor has been slow to run tests. I have another appointment on Monday, but sometimes I feel so strange with the symptoms in my head, I wonder if I should keep waiting...because even if he does schedule tests on Monday, it probably would be a few days before I get to actually do the tests and then a few more days before the results, etc.

I also have burning feelings in both of my upper arms.

How do you know when it is a serious problem not to mess around with? We are having a snow storm right now, so I hate to be on the roads if I don't need to, but how do I know?
