I had a sore throat on and off for months, I finally gave in because my whole throat area wasn't feeling right. I went to an ENT. He put a scope down my nose and took a look at my throat. He said:

1. He saw white under my tonsils, he said it was bacteria and gave me antibiotics.
Q: What causes this and what is this? Is this strep?

2. He said he saw acid reflux damage around my vocal cords, he said to take an over the counter remedy and to come back in three weeks.

Q: My whole neck is sore and my sore throat is worse. Should he have done a strep culture?
Q: How does acid reflux get up to the vocal cords?
Q: Should I go to a doctor who specializes in acid reflux?

Thanks.

Has your sore throat and neck been any better?? Did the reflux meds help at all?? Just wondering what it turned out to be because it sounds very similar to my issues!!!

I think he did the right thing. Even if you have strep, you have an antibiotic. The reflux med. might actually work, but you need to watch what you eat if certain foods trigger your symptoms. Ex) high fat content, dairy, spicy foods...everyone differs.

I had white spots on my tonsils once. However, I have allergies and was given flonase for a lot of PND which felt like knives in my throat. Do you have allergies?

My throat feels all lumpy too. Like it's all rippled. I stood in front of the mirror and would watch the way I swallow...just doesn't look normal.
