Hello everyone!
What does a blood clot in the leg feel like and where does the pain run from? I am in very bad pain from the top of my knee cap to almost my hip.

Hi Drewsmom, When I had my blood clots they were in the calfs and I didn't know it until I had multile PE's. Although the superficial ones I had were very painful. People I have spoken to both online and in person have described them in many ways from terrible cramp like pain to shooting burning pain. If you have any reason to suspect clots you should seek medical attention asap. I sure hope you feel better soon. Beth AKA Little Wonder

Hello, if you have a clot in your leg it would normally start in your calf, they move as well and not being a doctor but a person who has had at least 25 clots myself, I would say since it is the top of the knee to almost the hip does NOT sound like a blood clot, since most are deep vein thrombosis which would cause the pain behind your knee, not in front. If you have a blood clot, if you stood on your toes on that leg and put all your weight you should have pain where the clot is. The spot should feel warmer then the rest of the leg as well. If you are a person who has never had a bloodclot I wouldn't worry, but if you have had, you should have it checked out. Blood clots are potentially life-threatening so if you feel you may have one, go to the doctor to be on the safe side. Hope I have helped Dawn
