hello not sure this is the right place to ask but can anyone tell me how efficcient mr scans are at picking up blood vessels.i had a scan(without contrast dye) of my head and some of my neck.but it never picked up a hard swollen vein running down my neck into my back that i can feel with my fingers.it even cause's discomfort on moving my head, breathing deeply i can feel a pain shoot up from my back through this vein, theres got to be something wrong but the mr scan made no mention of it..would a contrast dye have highlighted this?or maybe another form of scan is needed.any help or pointers to a relevent website would be appriciated.cheers

I would definitely advise you to get an MRI with contrast. A plain MRI is mostly looking for abnormalities in your brain mass. Also, it would be a good idea to get an MRA.........this checks the arteries.
