I heard that people can develop esophagial cancthat have acid reflux. I have been on Nexium for 2 weeks and I don't know how much it is really helping and I am stressed that it may go into this serious problem. I go to the dr. and they just keep switching meds or what have you, and they down play acid reflux. Why would they do this? Do these doctors not care about what could develop? If anyone has any info or facts that can put my mind at ease, that would be GREATLY appreciated!

Try the Nexium and see how you do on it. Yes, excessive acid reflux can lead to esophageal cancer but not commonly. You will be doctoring yourself by reporting to your doctor any new or continued problems you are having. A Gastroscopy would determine whether or not you have an abnormality in your esophagus and/or stomach. It's a simply procedure and would put your mind at ease. However, you have only been on the Nexium for two weeks so it is too early to have to worry about any other treatment at this point.
