I woke up on Friday morning finding it difficult to breathe, this passed but since then I feel that I cant breathe properly. My chest feels tight and I feel that I cant get a full breath. I am too scared to sleep at night incase I stop breathing and of course being tired because of not sleeping is making me feel worse. What I would like to know is how would you know if you are really ill this time or whether it is anxiety. I know I have felt like this before and have got better but I am so scared.

I know what you mean about getting enough air and tightness in your chest. Do you sometimes get a tingling feeling around your mouth? I ended up in the hospital because I was posturing. I did not realize that I was breathing heavy. My chest felt as if a elephant was sitting on me. They say I was hyperventalating????) anxiety.
Re: sleeping.not having enough quality sleep can make a person have increased anxiety. The doctor put me on lexapro. I also have restless leg syndrome, non epi seizures. I have a nerve disorder. Don't let your self get to this point. I worked, handled my parents finances,my sister and her 4 kids would come to me when there was a problem. I have always been in control of things and thought I was handling it well. I know now that I was in denial.

Try to find out what triggers your breathing abnormal. This can take sometime. Don't get frusterated. My hubby and kids would give me a paper bag to breath into. It did help. Stay focused. Slow down. I'm going to look into Yoga. Believe me this is a BIG step for me.
