I had a hemrhoidectomy 2 and a half weeks ago, and have been experiencing a discharge ever since. My dr. said it is normal and will go away eventually. At first it was like a mucous consistency, and that has lessened, and now it is more of a watery discharge. It is driving me crazy! Just curious if anyone else who has had this surgery experienced this, and if so, how long did it last?
This is one surgery I hope to NEVER have again!
Thanks!

oh, my God! I had the same surgery 20 yrs ago and I thought I would die! It was simply the most pain I have ever experienced...it's like, if my eyelash moved, my butt hurt. Can't remember the discharge, however. Everything is blocked by the pain. I would speak again to the dr and make sure that your didn't bust a stitch. chris

I had this same surgery about 18 years ago. I don't remember any problems at all, like this time! I was younger and maybe that made a difference.
This is the WORST surgery IMHO, because it is so hard to heal, because you feel as if you are ripping your incision all to pieces again, every time you have a bowel movement. That first bm was by far the worst, but none were too wonderful for nearly 2 weeks! I almost passed out on that first one. It was horrific, to say the least! That pain has to be up there with child birth! I can't think of any worse pain.
I hope this will be my last surgery for LIFE for hemrhoids!

I feel so sorry for you and hope it gets better. I am so glad I didn't need surgery for mine. I hope you have some pain medicine. Did the dr give you some dermaplast (it maybe dermoplast I don't remember for sure) it's a spray that helps cool and numb the area plus I think it good for fighting infections. They are selling it at wal mart now. BUT be sure to check with your dr first. You might have an infection. Obviously this must be a hard area to keep clean. It is somewhat similar to when women have to be cut to deliver a baby. Sitz baths and dermaplast where get when I had my stitches. The hospital also gave a plastic bottle to rinse the area with. Hope this helps. Good luck!

Luckily, I am not in much pain now, from the surgery, it is just the discharge that is driving me crazy!
