View Full Version : Four Weeks Post -Op

I am four weeks post-op from a bone fusion in my foot. I have been NWB since March 25.

Yesterday I finally got my cast off!!! Yippee!! My foot looked great - relatively. Still pretty swollen and bruised. The incision is from the base of my big toe to the middle of my foot, but it's healing nicely.

I am now in a boot shoe and can only put 25% of my weight on it with the use of crutches. Next week I can go to 50% of my weight with crutches. And then the next week I can go 75% of my weight without crutches. I then see my doctor on June 6 for a final x-ray.

So....I still have two more weeks on crutches (major bummer), but can see the light at the end of the tunnel! It was WONDERFUL taking a bath, washing my leg, getting all the dead skin off, shaving, and putting lotion on a clean foot and leg!!! And this morning I enjoyed taking a shower without having to cover my leg! The little things mean alot! LOL

Anyway, that's my status.

GREAT GREAT GREAT!!!
I know what you mean about the little things. Isn't it amazing what we take for granted. I know I learned alot. You will be so surprised how each week is so much better than the week before.

Good News! Isn't it wonderful taking a bath! I just returned from my 4 weeks post op bunionectomy appointment (I am 4 weeks post op thursday). I still have a lot of swelling, which is red/purple, plus my whole foot is discolored (green) from the bruising, but the doctor is happy with things.

Hey, feetfirst! My next foot is May 20! I'm so glad I'll have another buddy!

nwill - sounds like you're right on track. You'll be amazed at what a difference every week makes at this point. Those little things are everything!

OH mY God, that first bath is wonderful... :bouncing: . I actually couldn't stand it, or shall I say, stand myself, and was able to pull myself in and out of the tub the first week post op... (against my mom's advice) but I thought the whole scenario out in my mind first and did ok... I'm going ahead this friday with my other foot.... Good luck with yours too

You'll never believe what I did yesterday. I was trying to go down three steps on my crutches and began falling. Luckily my co-worker was there and I fell into her. My foot was fine but I broke my thumb!! Now I have my foot in a boot, on crutches, with a cast on my hand. I think I'll find a good bridge to jump off! :)

I am sorry..............no bridge though, OKAY????? Thank God for your co worker...could have been your other leg in a cast!

Oh NO nwill!!! Stay away from the bridges please!!! Just vent to us and we will keep you going. Thank goodness you foot is fine and you didn't hurt the other foot. Maybe you should take some time off work and rest. Take care and be careful please.
