View Full Version : Best Meds and Therapies?

Hi everybody,

I really want to start taking control of this anxiety.
I want to be able to go to work, and not lose my job.
I want to live a happy life.
I realize that the anxiety will still exist, but I want to stop becoming a vegetable when I do get anxious.

Can anyone recommend something I can say to my doctor? I want to get some different meds if possible, (i'm on celexa and lorazepam right now), and I also want to try some therapies, because I know I can't depend on meds alone.

Just a background on me:

I let emotions run my life... to the point where I get in a crying fit, can't function, and have really bad panic attacks (i was rushed to the hospital in an ambulance last week because of one).

Once I get in that mode, I can't seem to stop, i go completely "crazy" and don't even remember half the things i say or do during an attack... and then my everyday responsibilities are thrown out the window. (and i have work to go to, and 2 exams to study for).

I have a doctor's appointment on Monday.

Thanks so much in advance!

Here's my two cents and I'm no doctor. One, you should be seeing a psychiatrist instead of a GP...and second, a small dose 5MG of Prozac and maybe 1MG of Xanax XR daily is a spectacular combination for the symptoms you describe...it's worked wonders for me. I'm back to myself and yes, happy!

I think it depends on your insurance...if you have insurance, i would call them and ask. sometimes my gp will give me a referral without even seeing me...

which is this fall. (by the way) sorry i didn't post it earlier.

i'm already "accepted" ... i wonder if there's any way around becoing a student in the meantime so i can get back on my mom's insurance, and referred to a psychiatrist?
