My 9 yr old daughter awakens every night about the same time at night 1:30 or 2:00am.
I dont know why she does this. She is ADHD
and has recently started ritalin but she was doing this before being on meds. Is there
a childhood sleeping disorder? should I have her checked. She has a hard time waking up in the am for school because she has this wake up spell in the early am hours. Thanks for any advice

When my daughter was younger, under two, she would wake up at the same time nightly. Her doctor said to go and wake her up about 30 to 45 minutes before the time she usally woke up. This would break her sleep pattern. It did work for us, not saying it will for you, but you might try it.....

My daughter is 6 years old and does the same thing. She will just wake up and come in our room to tell us good night and stuff that really isn't important. I am always half asleep when she comes in so I never really remember what all she tells us. We also have a hard time getting her up the next morning for school. Then we don't feel rested because of the interuped sleep.

My son did something similar when he started kindergarten...about 3 am about every other day, even on weekends. Since I am ADD and he shows traits once in a while also, I put him on 25mg natural source vitmin B daily. Since it worked wonders on my sleep patterns I figured it would with him too. It did! Vitamin B is largely lacking in the food we consume and is necessary for proper nutrition and stress reduction. Since I take 50mg a day, I just break the pill in half for him. There was a noticeable improvement also in his energy level at the end of the day. He is far more alert and able to do his homework without saying he is tired.
