View Full Version : How long does it take to recover from chemo?

My Dad just completed his 12th and final chemo session. YEAH!!!

He did very well with the chemo until the last few treatments, during which time he was having routine shots to help his red blood cell count. Seems like the effects got a little more difficult to manage w/ each treatment, but he didn't even miss a day of work until his 9th treatment..so that was pretty good I thought!! I'm very proud of him and admire everybody who has had the courage to go through these treatments.

Even tho' Dad did good tolerating the chemo, I know he's been feeling poor over the past several weeks...very tired, not hungry, a lot of aches and pains.

Can anybody give an indication of how long it takes to feel normal again after having gone through chemotherapy?

Thanks in advance for your time.

Hi Jmox

Glad to hear your dad is over the chemo regime. Most side effects from chemo do indeed wear off, sometimes quickly, sometimes slowly. Depends on the person and the drug regime. In relation to the fatigue, he should hopefully get back to normal in a month or two with a good diet and rest.

good luck
