Diver05 04-27-2005, 10:36 AM Opalfruit, I was wondering the same thing. I'm the type to not even take an asprin for a headache, so the thought of going on a med was not cool. I'm 28 and just realized that I have an anxiety problem. My doctor put me on Lexapro, which like you I really didn't want to take. I think that the med is to help you with the acute symptoms of anxiety, so that you can get therapy and deal with it, without having the anxiety problems. Does that make sense. That's what I've convinced myself of in order to allow myself to take the meds. I don't know if it's correct, and everyone is different. It's just how I look at it. "Here, just take some Zoloft" webgal318 04-27-2005, 11:25 PM I have been taking medication for depression and anxiety for more than two years and it changed my life. But I had to help it along by working with therapists as well. It was a combined approach and I have had my ups and downs. Right now I am on the down side because I have too much on my plate and my self esteem is not in the best of shape. Actually I just found out that the source of my test anxiety was related to low self esteem. I am just looking for a place to go when I feel like escaping. I hope I have found the place. SR |
