Hi everyone...
I just started taking Lexapro 3 weeks ago, and I'm not seeing a huge difference. I was on Buspar for about 3 weeks and then stopped that and started the Lex immediately. From reading the other posts, it seems that people saw a difference right away? I know its supposed to be more fast acting than other meds. I was taking 10 mg but my dr suggested upping it to 20 which I have been doing the past 2 days but I am not that comfortable doing it. I have health anxiety and I have worried about a lot of diseases but right now MS is my fear. I have muscle twitches, tingling, and lately these weird creepy crawley senstaions all over my body-i mean EVERYWHERE. I have had tests done and they all came back normal, but I am so scared that I have MS. Anyways, does anyone else have these weird symptoms? I'm seeing the psych tomorrow shoudl I ask her to switch meds or should I wait a little longer? Thanks for any advice

Well to me (and I am no expert) 20 mg sounds like a high dose. They have me starting on 5. I am Med. sensitve but My psychiatrist said the usual dose is 10 mg. Maybe it is too much too fast?
I am on day six. I wouldn't say I felt better the first day but I felt something!!!
Felt jumpy like I was crawling out of my skin and some what irritable. I do notice with each day I feel a little better so I am hopeful.
I would talk to her tomorrow for sure if it's real bad put a call in.

What both of you are feeling are Akathesia which is a common side-effect when starting SSRI's...

Akathesia translates to "inability to sit still", or "restlessness". One of several 'drug-induced movement disorders', Akathesia is a common side effect associated with the use of anti-psychotic medications (neuroleptics). It is characterized by excessive, usually stereotyped (repetitive) movements such as pacing, foot tapping and rocking the body back and forth. I've also heard Akathesia described as a 'feeling that you are going to come out of your own skin" if you don't move.
It is very Common with SSRI's & SNRI's as well.......

Does it subside ??? I get strange neck pain . On the left side on my neck it hurts on and off. Don't know if it is from gridning my teeth or what?
Sometimes I think I am just one of those people who can not tolerate these drugs. I am on day 6 and only taking 5 mg, what is 10 going to feel like?
I hit Highs and Lows all day long. Burst of energy followed by extream tiredness? I don't know which is worse this or GAD!

It goes away once you get use to the drug, going from 5 to 10 shouldn't be to terrible for you. It'll run it's course. It's nothing more than a brain neuron adjustment...

Hope it doesn't take too long! I go to the Dr. tomorrow.
Right now I have to take my daughter to KG roundup and I still don't feel real comfortable about being around large groups of people on this stuff, not to mention 20 kids ;) I will be taking lots of deep cleansing breaths I'm sure.

Thanks for the encouragement!!! It is so scary when you are taking it for anxiety and it provokes anxiety! I made the mistake of reading a FDA page yesterday and that got my mind going on over drive.
Also not loving the NO Libido. Nor is my husband I'm sure

Yes, that is ironic...It's your Seratonin that's being altered a little...The brain is being tinkered with..... :)
