It was very informative. On the panel were 2 doctors, Larry Kings wife who is a migraine sufferer, actress Lee Grant a migraine sufferer & another actress who was a child star on the Brady Bunch.

Larry Kings wife was rather dipsy so I didn't pay her much attention. :jester: Alledgedly, she actually had a migraine during the program. Larry had one of his flunkies bring her ice to place on the back of her head.
Every type of migraine the 2 doctors discussed, she said she suffered from including "clusters".
Even after *both* doctors confirmed 90% of cluster sufferers are males.
Every treatment known to man she has tried. She even said she had acupuncture right before the show.
She was actually sickening!

The other 3 guest were very informative. Throughout the show Topomax & Imitrex were mentioned. Lee Grant swears by Imitrex.

The other actress suffers from a rare type of migraines (I forgot the name, but it begins with the letter "H") whereas she suffers from mini strokes on her right side!

One of the doctors was a biofeedback specialist. Personally, I am all for DRUGS to relieve my migraine pain.
However, he did mention stuff I already knew..... know what triggers your migraines, "KEEP A CALENDER!"
If you know your triggers, try to avoid them at all cost. (Easier said than done! :nono: )

The call-in portion was just like this message board. :D

I saw the special as well. Actually my mom taped it for me, but anyway, it was interesting. However, I already knew mostly everything that they talked about. I agree with you though, I too am for drugs to relieve my migraine pain, otherwise, I'd never be able to cope with it.

I was slightly disappointed that they only mentioned the two drugs (Topamax & Imitrex). Just b/c that's what worked for them, it was the only thing they talked about. I wanted to hear all of it, failed drugs included. What works or doesn't work for one person, doesn't mean that the next migraine sufferer will have the same experience.

Lol, I also found Larry's wife to be irritating. But I thought the call-ins were the best part. It was like hearing the actual voices of the people that write on these message boards.

mystiq86, I thought the show could have gone on for 2 hours minus Larry's wife or at least a Part II for the next night.

The 2 doctors should have had more time to discuss various drugs and various treatments. Especially the biofeedback doctor for peeps who prefer to deal with their migraines w/o drugs.
Sorry, I just can't see myself *wishing* my head pain away or *re-directing* the pain somewhere else. Sh*it, when I have an attack, I don't feel like doing a damn thing! How the hell am I going to do some biofeedback. GIVE ME MY DRUGS! :D

I noticed quite a few call-ins also had depression along w/their migraines which I found interesting.
