Hi All. Well, where to start. I've posted on these boards before about this but the problem is still not resolved. I've had earache and my throat hurts sometimes when I swallow. This has been happening since August last year. Somedays I think its gone and then it just comes back. Been to the docs. He said I had a throat infection and put me on a weeks course of antibiotics but they didn't work so I went back and just because I mentioned that I sometimes have acid reflux, he said that was what was probably causing it so gave me some antacid pills! I don't know whether its my ear thats causing my throat pain, or vice versa. The doc looked in my ear but said it was ok. Thing is, my other ear has started to ache sometimes too. Also, I have had headaches now every day for about the last two weeks. I don't know whether this is from the stress of worrying about what I have or if its something more serious. I'm convinced I have throat cancer and that its now gone into my brain. I try not to worry but you know what its like when you don't know whats wrong with you! I suppose I'll end up going back to the doctors but I just wondered if any of you had any more ideas of what I have or have experienced any similar problems. Thanks.

It's not throat cancer or brain cancer, that is just not the symptoms of that. My daughter gets that periodically (not constant like you), but I always said it was some kind of irritation in the tube that leads from the ear to the throat. A doctor can't SEE it and can only go by how you describe it. Maybe you just need another antiobiotic, it could be a stubborn little infection. There could be fluid in there (in which case antibiotics wouldn't help and the doctor wouldn't see) - maybe if you took some kind of decongestant and see if that would help?

Hi. The pain in my throat is on one side, yes. I'm not sure whether I can call it a stretching pain. I don't know how to describe it really. Its not painful, its just there most of the time. More of a nuisance really but when something doesn't go you tend to think something more serious is wrong with you. I shall look up about TMJ as your suggested. Thanks!
