I want to thank those of you that have posted giving us support. You have no idea how much it helps. I am upset with the pain doctor that was giving Katie all these pill, even calling her and asking her if she needed more. With the headaches she has, it was just too tempting to get them.

The doctor put her back on the oxy for 2 weeks so she can get down with school. I will be with here the whole way when they put her in the hospital to do a fast detox. Does anyone have an experience with going to the hospital for a fast detox? I am just wondering how it works. They said she would be in there 4-5 days. Please, if anyone went this route let us know how it works.

I am so proud of her that she recognized what she was doing and is doing everything in her power to get better. She doesn't like having to take the oxy even now because she knows they are her enemy. I have to keep telling her that it is the treatment plan that we have to do for now for her to finish school. I know May 9th will be rough and she is very scared. I am hoping it won't be as bad as the 4 days were when we did the taper the ER doctor gave us. She was so sick.

My other question is do you think a inpatient treatment program versus an outpatient program works better. My husband says he knows of too many people that have done inpatient that have had not much success. He is really pushing an outpatient program. I am talking to the doctor today and will share his concerns with him.

Again, thanks for the support. It sure helps Katie and myself to read all your posts and know how much support you are. Thanks from the bottom of my heart. You are all angels.

Please tell me that she is not doing an ultra-rapid detox, where they use meds to detox her. LOOK INTO THAT. ASK QUESTIONS. It's dangerous, unproven, cruel and inhumane. This is my opinion. I looked into it for myself. I decided NOT to. I did much-o research-o After you find out the answer to this question, I will be happy to talk with you further. I have 4 kids myself. Nothing like seeing your 'baby' hurt. I know how you feel. Just find out if it's "Ultra Rapid Detox" or something to that effect. Let me know.

Katie;

If they are detoxing your daughter over 4-5 days they most likely will use a group of drugs such as valium (benzo), clonidine, something for the diareha Katie;

If they are detoxing your daughter over 4-5 days they most likely will use a group of drugs such as valium (benzo), clonidine, something for the diarrhea and a sleep aid to help your daughter through the detox. These will make the detox process much more manageable then when your original Dr gave you a ridiculous taper program and your daughter suffered withdrawal without any help of supporting meds. I’m good with inpatient programs, but you have to supplement an inpatient program with a good after care out patient program. That can be one on one therapy, or group therapy or AA/NA or any combination of those. You definitely need support as if you try to get through this alone you are more likely to relapse. Support and a good after care program will not guarantee total success but it sure fortifies your chances of continued success. That’s why after more then 2 years of clean living I still come here to read and offer help as this helps me maintain my clean drug free life. My form of therapy/support.

Just know that ultra detox (same day drug induced detox) has some very debatable issues and has many critiques for the down side so buyer beware. And after care support is essential in my eyes for continued drug free living.

Sure seems like you are headed in the right direction and you have a daughter who knew when to ask for help and drive to drug free. And your daughter is fortunate to have you as a mother who cares enough to help her daughter with unconditional love and support. I so admire the two of you.

Hi Everyone! I am getting closer and closer to "Detox Day". I am very nervous but at the same time am looking so much forward to getting my life back. I dont know how this happened to me, I feel like the pain pills just swooped down and took over me without my consent. I am ready though to change, and ready to be well again.

I am just so scared of what those days detoxing in the hospital are going to be like. Can anybody share with me anything they might know about what goes on during a detox in a weeklong hospital stay. What meds are given, etc. How long it took to feel somewhat normal again??? I am just so nervous, I think it would help if I knew what is going to happen.

I am so ready to detox. I hate this medicine and dont want any part of it. I need to take it just to finish up these last two weeks of school and I understand that. I am so lucky I have my mom here every second of the way. Thanks also to all of you for your kind words and so much intelligence!

Hi Katie,

I just want to send you a big hug and lots of encouragement. You're a very smart and brave girl. I hope the detox isn't as scary as you fear. I have no clue because I am a person who is on the other side of addiction. You sound well on your way to getting your life back. You can do this! I just want to wish you all the very best.

Luv,
Scared Wife
