Most of the statistics(online) are out of date, the treatments are better now than they were 5 years ago and they're always coming out with better drugs all the time. I guess they still haven't found a cure for stage IV, but people with it have been living longer thanks to the advance is cancer treatments.

The question begs an answer...........life may be longer however is it of absolute QUALITY? Why worry about tomorrow? So many of us ignore the beauty of the day right in front of us................

How much longer?... Avastin and Erbitux have extended life by 6-8 months. I have to agree with SS that we need to look at quality of life. Although you are correct that overall, undeniably people are living months longer, again depending on stage of diagnosis and response to treatment. But what a change of heart coming from you. I hope this means you will get the appropriate testing.

Maz, you know that I of all people, am VERY POSITIVE, yet at the same time EXTREMELY REALISTIC. From other posts you also know that the one thing that I HATE is misinformation. That's the Big problem with colorectal cancer, why it hasn't gotten the attention it should. First secrecy, embarrassment, now mis-information and it's still a closet topic. I am extremely compassionate and vocal regarding this, so much so, it's almost to a fault. But, when you go through it you just get this whole new perspective about it and this overwhelming urge to do your part to save the world! ;) Maybe when you are thru with chemo, you too will be affected this way. I don't know, I think it's different for everyone.
Fondly,
