My GP gave me a 14-day prescrip for Ambien (10mg) because of some health issues I'm trying to get diagnosed and haven't been able to sleep because of symptoms (won't go into here) but warned against taking too much. She said to take 3-4 nights to get some sleep, then just take every few nights if I need to get a good nights' sleep. My cardio thought the 10mg was pretty hefty but said it's okay if I really need it to sleep. I've been cutting in half and taking it that way for 4-5 nights, but now feel I should not take for a couple of nights even if I don't get to sleep. My test results are Monday, but I'm still not sure I'll know what's wrong with me, hence my symptoms will probably still continue. Anyway, long story, but if I end up taking Ambien for a few weeks, will it be hard to stop?

It may be difficult to sleep for a few nights due to the rebound effect. You should be back to your normal sleeping pattern by the third or fourth night.
