I'm curious, what type of treatment did they give you at the hospital?

So sorry to hear about your pain. I can relate. The only thing and I do mean the only thing that has helped me is Hydoco/Apap. I take one 10/325mg. before bedtime and a 400 Neurontin about 3 hours before. I have spent so many sleepless nights for the last 5 or 6 years because all the doctors kept trying to get me to take tons of that Neurontin which did not do the job and other things that did not work or caused too many side effects. Finally found a really sweet pain specialist who understands and says that if you don't get control of this pain, it will control you. I agree because it had done just that. Best wishes

I AGREE THAT THE NERVE PAIN IS CONTROLLING ME! iT'S WORSE THAN MY BACK CONDITION AFTER 4 SURGERIES AND I UNDERSTAND THAT NEUROPATHY WAS CAUSED BY BACK SURGRIES. hOW CAN ANYONE FUCTION WHEN YOUR FEET ARE TO PAINFUL TO EVEN TOUCH THE CARPET LET ALONE WALK ON THEM? THEN THERE'S THE LACK OF SLEEP AS MY NERVE PAIN AWAKES ME EVERY HOUR AND I FEEL LIKE I'VE JUST BEEN SHOT OUT OF A CANNON. I TRYED AMITRIPTYLINE AND BECAME SO OUT OF IT I WOULD DO THINGS THAT I DIDN'T KNOW I WAS DOING INCLUDING,SLEEPWALKING, ON 100MG. SO, I HEARD OF THE NEW WONDER DRUG WAS NEURONTIN. THAT EVEN WORSE. lOW DOSES GIVE ME NO PAIN RELIEF AND HIGHER DOSES MAKES ME SO TIRED THAT I FALL ASLEEP STANDING UP OR SITTING DOWN. I'M DROPPING NEURONTIN AND TRYING A LOWER DOSE OF AMYTRIPTYLINE. WISH ME LUCK. ANY SUGGESTIONS?

Hi Madine, so sorry about your feet. This neuropathy is terrible and no one understands when we try to explain it.

There is a newer drug out, Cymbalta, but I couldn't take it either. Another is coming out soon but can not remember the name of it and it is for neuropathy not an off label treatment.

I tried amitripyline, topamax, tramodal, mobic, wellbrutin, ambien, darvon and I had bad side effects from all them.

Sounds like your body may react to drugs as mine does. Hydroco/Apap is Vicodin but I can only take it at night or I get nauseous. I do fine mostly during the day. It is just at night or if I want to lay down during the day. Within an hour they are hurting so bad I can hardly stand them. Then I may have to take half of the vicodin to calm them down.

I have been using the anodyne at PT but the jury is still out on that.

Best wishes, Martha
