I knew something was seriously wrong when I nearly fell asleep at a Robert Plant and Jimmy Page concert. My doctor discovered I had hypothyroid and sleep apnea. For some people, one goes along with the other. You might get your thyroid function checked out.

I absolutely had this problem before my sleep apnea was treated. Movies are much better now that I can stay awake! It is a common problem, it is dark, and you are sitting still.
How are you treating your apnea? How is your sleep hygiene?

the problem wasnt from sleep apnea as I use my CPAP machine successfully and still have it

If this is just once in awhile, I wouldn't worry about it, but if it is a frequent problem, something is wrong. If your apnea is adequately treated, and your sleep hygiene is good, you should be able to stay awake when you want to.
I would investigate if your machine is still at the correct setting, or if something else is going on. Perhaps you have another medical problem such as thyroid trouble?
Good luck.
