My husband found out friday that he was approved for disability, they said his award date was August of 2004. So, he should start receiving his check at the end of May? And, does this mean no back pay? Also, one more thing what about our children, do they usually get any kind of entitlment? Thanks

I was notified in November 2004 that I had won my appeal and was approved for SSD. The approval went back to October 2002. In March I got a check for my back payments. Then, in April, I got my first regular monthly check.

If you listed your children on the application there should be a check for them too. It may take a few months before you get the back pay. Usually it is deposited into your account before you even get the paperwork.

My son just got his first disability payment yesterday, but the back pay hasn't arrived yet. The man at the SS office told me that he should recive his back pay in a few weeks.
