I had 2 root canals and crowns put on my front 4 teeth last Wednesday. They are just temporary crowns right now...my permanant ones should be in in a couple weeks. Well, my gums are still very inflamed above these teeth. It's ver painful. They are also bleeding a lot when I brush my teeth. Now, this morning I woke up and it looks like dried blood has actually gotten inside the top part of the temp crowns. I've tried to get it out, but I can't seem to get it. Is this normal? Does anyone know of a way to clean it out or will I need to wait until I have the permanant crowns put on? Also, is it normal for my gums to be so inflamed and puffy?
Thanks so much,
Hilery

I had all of my teeth prepped for crowns and the gums were really red and swollen. I suggest you call the dentist, and ask them. Also, they can remove the temps quickly and clean them.

hilery79: I had temps placed on my teeth and I found that the gums were very sore for a couple days after. I brush, floss, and warm salt water rinse morning and night and also warm salt water rinse an additional 3 - 4 times during the day. It has taken about a week for the gums to heal but they DO get better. I didn't have the bleeding that you experience, but they were extremely sore. I have gotten to where I really enjoy the warm salt water and look at it like a treat for my mouth. Sort of a spa treatment for my gums. ;-) If they don't get better in a couple of days, definitely call the dentist for a stronger prescription rinse. Hope all works well for you.

Thanks so much for your replys...I tried the warm salt water and it really soothed my sore gums. They're looking a lot better!
2 of my crowns keep accumulating dried blood inside of them making them look dark. I keep brushing and rinsing...nothing helps get it out. Has this happened to anyone else?
