I started having terrible heartburn back in December out of the blue. I was put on Prilosec which helps off and on. I was then put on Reglan which seemed to help a little bit better but now I'm out.

I had upper GI done last week which showed acid reflux (duh). My doc is really hard to get a hold of and I was wondering if 20mg Prilosec is adequate or is there something better that I can ask her to put me on. I still get the bad pain in my chest and the lump in my throat pretty often. I also have asthma type symptoms which I've never had before in my life.

Also, should I now request an endoscopy? What does it show that upper GI doesn't?

Thanks in advance,
Julie

My endoscopy showed gastritis and a small hiatal hernia after my Upper GI came back fine. It's a much better look.

They are two different tests that show two different things. I had them both. My Upper GI was normal while my endoscopy showed a small tear.
