Did anyone have gas/bloat from taking Nexium? Do you think Nexium can cause delayed gastric emptying?

I found that Omaprozole, which is a similar PPI, caused a frustrating delay in the digestion of my food. If I had a reasonably large meal it could take 3 to 5 hours for noticeable digestion to occur, even if I went for a long walk. In fact delayed gastic emptying was one of my main complaints about PPI's. That and dry skin.

Blasterboy, did you find when you went off the ppi that your system went back to normal or did this become a permanent situation? Also, was the delayed emptying a concern in terms of having the fundo?

The dry skin seems to have gone, in fact it's only because I'm not on the PPI's and that my skin is no longer dry, that I blame the drugs distintly for that problem.

Regarding the gastric emptying, as I have the "runs" at the moment, it's actually emptying too fast I guess, lol....

Blasterboy, clearly the delayed gastric emptying is gone :jester:

However, did the surgeon think it a concern before doing the fundo ?(obviously since you had it in the end it was not a concern but did it come up beforehand?)

He wasn't too interested actually. The general fact that I wanted off PPI's and had recorded cronic reflux (by PH monitoring) was enough for him.
