I'm so excited, I received my letter today that I was approved for ssd. It's been almost a year and I'm finally going to get it. They said the back pay will come first, than regular payments next month. Don't anyone give up! Good luck to everyone!!!!! Barb

Congratulations,
Not that anyone wants this to happen, but when you are disabled and have fought so hard- then this check is such a deserved blessing.
We almost lost our home and my back pay check came just in time to save what we had worked so hard for. It was such a blessing to not have to tell my child on everything- "No- You can't have it honey, we don't have the money".
This certainly doesn't come close to the wages that I made as a nurse- but if I could be back working- I certainly would be.
Hang in there to all who are truly disabled and are fighting this fight right now.
It is time consuming and frustrating but it usually works out for the best.

Congrats, I am so happy for you!!!!!! Just wanted to let you know it gives those of us still waiting, encouragement. Did you get approved through a hearing? I am just guessing because you said it had been about a year. God bless.

Thanks for all your replies. It really is such a relief to know somebody believes us when we say we're in pain. I didn't have a hearing at all. I don't know why it took so long to get it. They did call me twice during that time for more information though. I'm just glad that the waiting is over for now. Good luck to all of you!!!! Barb

My friends and family don't understand. My first denial said although I was disabled I could work at job lower that what I had worked. I have 15 dx's both mental and physical. I can't leave my house due to agorophobia. I would like to know how I'm supposed to work at a job when I can't get there??? It is stupid. And having your support system not understand makes it even worse. I would tell you to hang in there, but I'm having a hard time hanging in there right now.... :|
