hi all.....my daughter is 7 almost 8. She is very small for her age,,,wears about a medium 5 jeans,,,about 45 lbs. Anyways.....for about a month now i noticed she has strong armpit odor...i had to go buy her some teen spirit. I have heard that girls are going through puberty and a younger age now and i'm wondering if she is beginning puberty or not?

This could be. I know girls as young as 9 are now going through puberty. The underarm odor certainly appeared for me at puberty. Is she showing other signs yet? Underarm hair, pubic hair, sprouting breasts, etc.? If she is, I don't know that there's much to do to help her except try to make it easier for her psychologically.

If her only sign of puberty is odour then i would take her to the doctor..i started puberty very young...i was 8-9 when i started getting breasts and i started my period at 10...but i didn't need deoderant untill i was about 12..body odour can be signs of other things so it wouldn't hurt to make a doc's appointment for her to ensure everything is ok.

Hi,
My daughter just started her period at age 10. Her first sign of puberty were breast buds, then she started getting hair in all the right places. She still hasn't really started with under arm odor, so I would definetely take her to the doctor. I think you will find it is not puberty. Good luck. Michelle

Steph, I have a 5 year old daughter who also gets strong armpit odor. We see the pediatrician on a regular basis, he said it was nothing to worry about. She sweats a lot, i bought her some deodorant and was done with it. I don't believe that your daughter is going thru puberty, of course each person is different.
