I don't want to go to sleep tonight, I want to watch over my 7 year old son so I can nudge him and turn him when he stops breathing in his sleep!!
I told my doctor that my son suffers from this but he didn't seem in the least bit concerned!
He is going to have his adenoids out but this is being done aong with having gromets fitted because he has glue ear!
Even the consultant at the hospital didn't seem to bothered about my sons apnea!!
My son has very large tonsils and although I don't know for certain that this is causing him to have apnea I am wondering why removing his tonsils hasn't been recommended!
I am very worried about my son having any operation and anesthetic but the sleep apnea is damaging his heart!!
Why is no one bothered? I haven't even been given a date for having his adenoids out and his gromets fitted and I was told he needed the op at the begining of June!!
I suppose I'm just venting on here but I'm very very worried about my son and I'm scared too!

see my reply to your message on the "depression" board. I think you have every right to be worried about your son!

They are not concerned about his sleep apnea most likely because once he has the surgery it will disappear. Sleep apnea in children is often caused by large tonsils etc. What reason did your doctor give for not being concerned about his sleep apnea? If he didn't specifically say then you should have asked him why he wasn't concerned at this point. Let me know what the doc said and we may be able to offer more individualized advice about your situation. It is hard to say whether to be concerned or not since you didn't say why the doc is unconcerned.
