Hello
I have a daughter who is 8 yrs old and weighs 130 pounds. Her dad and I are divorced, have been for 7 yrs. I got divorced from him at 20. He have joint custody of them but the go to school where he lives which is about 30 minutes from me. They live with him, and I get them two times a week plus weekends. I have tried to talk to him about our daughters weight problem and he isn't at all concerned about it. He tells me that she will grow out of it. I am afraid not. She has gained weight over the past two years, and she isn't losing. She is in the second grade and she is miserable. She wears women clothing. I feel bad for her and trying to help her when she is here with me, but she don't have anyone to help her when she is with her dad. He just doesn't care. I have sent him letters, tried talking, and nothing does any good. I am afraid for her, and hate seeing her like that. She just cries, she ask me why her daddy don't care, why he won't him me help her. I am tore up over this and not sure what to do.. I am getting ready to try to get full custody of her and my son. But in the mean time, any suggestions from anyone. What should I do , to get him to understand that if he don't help me help her we are going to have problems.
Please help me if you can
Thanks alot
God Bless

Can you make an appointment with her doctor and have him examine her so that your ex has a medical note detailing her weight problem and what treatments they recommended? The other option would be to have her talk to the school counselor about this (maybe you could be with her) and let the school counselor help both of you work this out with your ex. I would hope that if a third party is involved he will get the idea that he he needs to pay attention to her weight.
