 hello all!

well, i am now on day 4 of lexapro. i have to admit i feel like a different person. i know it doesnt happen that quick, typical reults 4-6 weeks, i think. but hey ill take what i can get these days. i also spent 2 hrs fighting with insurance comp, and dr office. my insurance didnt want to cover lexapro, at first, so finally, i made some leway, and everything is squared away. the lexapro i am now taking are samples, but still its not good for me to start taking the samples and then find out i cant continue them. but, insurance agreed to cover it. hope that doesnt change. i really cant tolerate other meds. i have no appetite with lexapro, its weird, but how is everyone else doing?
also, thanks to those who helped with giving me info on lexapro and their experiences.
take care!!!

Hi,
I'm glad to hear you're doing well on Lexapro! I started taking it about a week ago for anxiety, but I also have mild depression. I'm having some side effects now, but I'm hoping they'll subside soon and I look forward to feeling better again. Do you have nausua with your loss of appetite? I've lost about 6 lbs since I started taking it due to nausua. I just can't bring myself to eat because I feel so sick to my stomach. I'm hoping this will pass.

I'm also taking samples right now...I didn't even think about my insurance not covering it. I guess I better call and make sure they will!

I hope you continue to feel better!

Take care,
Hilery

hey hilery!

actually, i really have no physical side effects. like nausea. i am just not hungry. i have depression and an eating disorder so i dont know, but so far i feel good. the only thing i have is a little drowsiness when i first take it. i would call your insurance. every insurance company is different, but mine does cover it as long as dr. verifies that you have tried other meds and they didnt work. then they will approve lexapro. but every plan is different, i would for sure call and ask. i think its like 80 bucks if you have no insurance, my co pay is higher,35 bucks, but thats still better than 80. hope everything goes well,
also, maybe try eating something when you first take lexapro, that may help nausea, or call a pharmacy, maybe they can suggust something. usually, it subsides after a week or 2 so i have heard.
take care!!!

Hi girls  I have now been on Lexapro for two months. I had the nausea at first, but I was taking it at night. I switched to taking it in the mornings with a light breakfast, and that went away. I also felt a whole lot better just in a matter of a few days. I also had mild anxiety and depression. I am happy to say that it helped both tremendously!

hey all!

litthotwm< im glad to hear it is helping you as well! the only thing that at first prevented me from trying it, was i hear horror stories of people saying "i gained 20 pounds from lexapro" but if you workout and eat right, there should be no weight gain. i think any weight gain would be from increased appetite just like loss of appetite in some cause weight loss. right? you hear so many stories and every one is different. i know if i dont eat healthy and workout, i gain weight. so so far so good! i have heard there is usually no weight gain woth lexapro! take care!!!! :)

I haven't noticed any change in my weight, or my appetite. I do work out several times week, and watch what I eat, so I am sure that helps too. After the initial nausea, I have adjusted very well. I guess I'm one of the lucky ones :)

I'm glad to hear both of you are doing so well! It gives me hope! I just wish I could get over this nausua...now I can't keep anything down. I weighed myself this morning and I've lost a total of 8lbs in only a weeks time. I've been taking it in the morning with a light breakfast, but within a few hours I start to feel sick. It's the worst around lunch time, so I haven't eaten lunch in a few day. By supper time...I'm feeling better, but I couldn't even keep that down last night. I couldn't keep breakfast down today either. Sorry..TMI!
I hope this passes soon!

Again, it's great to hear you guys are doing so well with this med!
Take care,
Hilery

hey hilery79!

im sorry you are still having issues with lexapro. did you call pharmacy to ask if there is anything that would help. i know that is a side effect, and they say once your body gets used to the meds, it will pass. so ill pray for ya! i dont have the nausea, but just not much of an appetite, i do get hungry if i go a while without food, but thats normal, so far no weight gain, i hope you feel better, besideds that, it does help mentally, i believe!!!!
stay well!

Thanks, amc23! I'm going to have my husband pick up something for my nausea this afternoon. I'll have him ask the pharmacist what might work best. I just found out a friend of mine has been taking Lexapro for several months...she said it has made her an entirely different person! She said she feels better than she ever has and wakes up every morning feeling happy and refreshed! She also said she doesn't have much of an appetite, either.

Thanks again, Hilery
