Hi, I had posted before about having a melanoma level 2 .8 mm. I just had surgery a couple of days ago to have it removed. I went to a general surgeon. I wondered if he is ok to do my follow ups with or if most people go to a specialist in this area, like oncology? He offered to do the follow ups ( the mole mapping and the 3 mth checks ) because I know him personally, but I wonder if this is the best choice? Does anyone know what is the norm in this situation? I really have no clue what to think. Thanks for your help!

After surgical followup (stiches removed, etc) and one further meeting with the surgeon, I then started seeing a dermotologist who specializes in melanoma for mapping and all subsequent followup skin checks.
