Hello,

I am trying to find out some information on Lupus Anticoagulant. I had a stroke in Feb. At that time they did clotting studies and said my blood work showed positive for lupus anticoagulant. They said the lupus anticoagulant was the cause of my stroke and they put me on plavix. I was just retested and now the lupus anticoagulant is not detected. I don't see my neuro for two weeks and I am confused about this. Also, my Protein C came back high. I have read this can be from inflammation and I do have alot of inflammation from my lupus.

Does anyone know about the results varying with the lupus anticoagulant?

Thanks for your help. Bern

My 21 year old son had a stroke on May 14. We have recieved the results from the blood test showing positive for lupus anticoagulation. I am looking for information that is understandable. We are going to a Dr. that specializes in strokes but I'm not sure where to begin?? Do you have a web page, personal story or where to find resources?

Hello, I am so sorry that your son has had a stroke at such a young age. How is he doing?

As for the lupus anticoagulant - I have read a lot on it just by typing it into the differnet search engines like Ask Jeeves or Google.

I do now know that it is possible for it show positive and negative at different times. I have retested again and show another positive and have been diagnosed with Antiphospholipid Antibody Syndrome - look this up also.

Did they put your son on any type of anti-platelet or anti-coagulation drug?

Please let us know how he does and what your specialist says. My prayers are with all of you.
