Hi All,
Hope everyone feels less pain today than yesterday! Can anyone tell me another drug to take for severe leg pain due to piched nerves in back instead of neurontin? My right leg feels like it is rotting off and the neurontin does not help at all. I take 300 mg. capsules 6 times per day. I also am insulin dependent diabetic so I have to be careful not to affect my blood sugar. Again, I am looking for another nerve pain drug instead of neurontin. Thanks All!

I am taking Neurontin for MS pain and migraines. I don't know why you are taking Neurontin six times a day. I went to a Neurologist that wanted me to take it 4 times a day. I don't go to him anymore. The prescribed dosage is 3 times a day. Now I am taking 1200 mg of Neurontin, 3 times a day. My leg pain is much better and so are the migraines. However, the magic amount for my migraines is 3600 mg a day. Maybe you haven't reached the mg's you need to get rid of your pain?

I take Gabitril in place of neurontin.i had been on Neurontin for about two and a half years but it was suddenly non affective and at the high dose I was switched to toward the end really started to give me side effects. My pain doc switched me to Gabitril as he said it is a much purer form of GABA and had less side effects than the neurontin.just a suggestion.Marcia
