My 6 year old son has been complaining of a "funny" or "weird" feeling in his right hand and leg for about 3 months now. We've seen 2 pediatric neurologists and they don't seem to know what it is. It's not growing pains and doesn't seem to be numbness or tingling. It's not painful and doesn't affect his ability to do anything. He says it feels "thick" or like a bug is in his hand. This happens on and off all day long. He says it feels "funny" most of the day. Has anyone had a child with these symptoms?

Hello, This is just a stab in the dark, but how about taking your child to a family doctor or regular ped.? Maybe they can run blood tests just to make sure there's no diabetes or cholesterol problems. You might also want to have your child clearify what "thick" means...Does it mean "heavy?" and exactly when does it happen...at night, after playing, after eating certain things, etc. The more info. you can give a doctor, the more likely they can find the problem.

If the funny feeling is like bugs crawling on him, it is possible there might be a vitamin deficiency. I think it is Vit B12, but I am not sure. Sue

Thanks for the reply! Our pediatrician referred us to the neurologist. Also, we took him to our chiropractor, but, after treatment with no results, he referred us to a medical doctor. So...that's where we are. We'll check out the vitamin deficiency possibility. We've tried to get a more solid description of the feeling from him, but, at 6, it's pretty difficult. Thanks for the input! We'll keep searching for the cause!
