Hi all, I have a 2 year old granddaughter who has a real bad or should I say nasty habit. She will have a bowel movement in her diaper and if my son and his wife are not right there when she wakes in the morning, she smears it everywhere. She just turned two and they are at their wits end as to how to break her of this habit. It happens 4 or 5 times a week. You cannot really shame a child of this age and they have tried all kinds of clothing to stop her but she is real good at getting into her or rather out of her clothes. I am at a loss as to what to tell them Any ideas would sure be appreciated.

Have they considered trying to potty train her? If she is doing it that often they may want to consider trying potty training since she is two already. Finger painting with BM as it is called is not unusual. Since she is two I think she should have to help clean up a bit when she does this. If it is all over the sheets she can help carry the dirty sheets to the laundry or take the sponge to help wipe off her bed etc. Maybe once she sees that it is not fun to have to help clean it up she will decide finger painting isn't so fun after all.

They saw a child "in a world of his own". I see the most the most brilliant star. They saw a child "who may never speak". I see a gift that didn't need words. They saw a child with "limited possibility". I see a child, my child, who can soar past the sky.

mommy to Ryan and countless foster children...
