View Full Version : Stopping the Pill? What to expect

I've been on the pill for 3 years and I hate the side effects (bloat, loss of sex drive, weight gain around the midsection etc..). I've tried the lower dosage pills & they were bad also since there would alway be breakthrough bleeding that would last for a week.

What can I expect when I stop the pill? Is acne a common effect? Will my sex drive come back right away?

Thanks

It's hard to say, since it's different for every woman. Some women go right back to cycles every month just as they were before the pill with no side effects. Other women break out, have irregular periods...it varies from woman to woman. Generally irregularity is a common side effect when coming off the pill. But after a few months, that tends to straighten itself out.

As soon as I stopped desogen, my sex drive came back immediately.

I stopped the pill for a month just to see how I would feel and it was awful. My PMS was out of control, I had heavy heavy bleeding, really bad cramps and I just felt so weak and exhausted. I had anxiety and everything. I went right back on the pill b/c for me, it really helps with pms. Have you ever tried microgestin 1-20? That is what I take now and I really like it. It's just enough to help with pms but not too much to give the side effects. I once took desogen and really had a bad time with that, but everyone is different. Good luck

I'm on Estrostep now, can you tell me more about microgestin 1-20. Does it make you hold water, spotting, is it a high estrogen pill?

Thanks

Hey Monoarchangel,

Can you give more information about microgestin 1-20? I have really bad cramps, which is why I switched from Orth Try Cyclen Lo to Yasmine. But for the past couple of weeks, I have been experiencing horrible cramps, headches, lots of dizziness, and nausea.

What is different about microgestin?
