My 3-yr-old used to be such a sound sleeper, now I hear him thrashing around throughout the nite. A few nights ago he was sleeping in our bed because he got scared by storms. I woke up and saw my son suddenly fling his arm out and hit his dad. He was sound asleep. Later he was still sleeping but he got up and was frantically tring to climb over our pillows onto the headboard. He has done this before where he is sleeping peacefully one minute then thrashing around the next, but still asleep. He's not moaning or making sounds or faces like he's having a nightmare, but he seems so frantic-not scared, and he seems to do it alot. Has anybody else noticed their child doing this or have any idea what's going on? I think it's distrubing his sleep because he's always so tired, even after a full nite of sleep.

Every once in a while my 2 y/o son will do the same thing~only it doesn't sound like it's quite as extreme as yours. I notice it more when he sleeps with us(which is not very often) He'll kick and punch and elbow and turn sideways. UGH! If you feel that it's disturbing his sleep, I would definitely check with his dr. Good Luck!

Sounds like night terrors to me also. My 4th child had them. She would be up and screaming and thrashing but not awake. For a period she was up 11 times a night. It will eventually pass. http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/smile.gif
