I am hoping someone can help me answer a question that I have been wondering now for 4 years. When I was 20 I was having unprotected sex w/my boyfriend and midway through the month I would say 2 weeks after my normal period I had some really bad cramps and just had one instance of heavy bleeding. I just figured my period was coming early however nothing happend the next day and several weeks later I had my usuall period. Could I have had a miscarriage? I figure if I did it had to have been very early, all the other postings talk of several days of cramping and bleeding I only had one day like that and I didnt inspect the toilet for blood clots b/c I didn't think it was anything at the time. I have never been pregnant since. I know this isn't much to go on since it was only one day of cramps and bleeding and I have never consulted a doctor with it. Any information would help or advise that maybe an OBGYN would be able to tell after all these years.

Thanks,

Liz

If you had a normal cycle two weeks before and a normal one several weeks later it is highly unlikely that you had a miscarriage. The time frame is far too short (unless you ovulate exceptionally early). If you had a period while pregnant and then miscarried (some women will have a periods during pregnancy) you would have been far enough along to feel everything pass.

It's possible to bleed midcycle due to ovulation. Some women (it's uncommon) will bleed heavily and cramp when the egg is released (the cramping may begin a couple of days before).

In my opinion it's possible but not probable.

There's no way for a doctor to be able to tell at this point. I'm sorry that's the case since it's good to have confirmation and resolution of a confusing situation.

Love and Prayers, Kelly
