My daughters wbc count came back twice once at 3.7 and than at 3.8. We are waiting for an appointment with the blood doctor, and I'm going crazy to get info, any would help-thanks.

The most common causes of low WBC are chemotherapy, radiationtherapy, typhoid fever and a viral infection. If you're daughter has a viral infection this is not serious and can be easily treated. Let's hope this is what it is. Another comment: I've had two blood test recently (two different blood labs) that listed the range: 3.6 - 11.0 and 3.8 - 10.8. However, your doctors blood lab may be using a higher number. Keep us posted.

For some people, the WBC can just run lower normally. Mine runs between 3.2 and 3.6. My doctor has never been concerned about it and it seems to be normal for me. Are her other blood counts OK?

My WBC runs between 3.1 -3.7. I have pernicious anemia and low b-12 without injections on monthly basis. As stated by other posters. The white blood cell counts without knowing the different percentages really means very little. The percentages of the lymphocytes, neutrophils and monocytes really says what the state of health is. Try not to worry too much.
