I had a sphintorectomy months back from a fissure that we very internal. Everything has been fine.. no pain, blood, etc... However, today I checked my anus when I came home because there was some itching and it seems not in the center, but on the outskirts of the actual anus, there seems to be a tear. Its hard to really tell by bending over nad looking in a mirror, but it doesn't seem right. It doesn't hurt, there was no blood, etc... Will a sitz bath help heal something like this?
I'm wondering if I could have torn the anus from toilet paper wiping? Again, it doesn't hurt or anything nad its on the outskirts, not near the center.
Anyone??
Thanks

I had the same surgery, and I found that the area directly opposite the incision point tends to itch and get irritated. This might be what is happening.
You can use some petroleum jelly the next time you go to keep it from getting any more irritated.

Thanks for the reply Chiggins.
On second look, it looks almost like a little hole, not to deep. Any ideas?

I surprised you can see it that clearly. No bleeding? If not, I'd say it isn't anything to worry about.
But if it gets worse, go see your doctor and make sure it isn't a fistula.

Fistula? Please elaborate. I spoke with my mother about it and she said it could be a hemmorhoid (I enjoy lifting weights). I think I noticed it today when I was sweating down there and there was a lot of itching. Just think it is strange how it is indented, almost like a hole.
I can't see it that clearly, just that it looks like a small indent.

a fistula is an actual hole in the lining of the anus, but I really don't think it's that. Just sounds like some irritation.
How old are you? How did the fissure surgery go? Mine went pretty well, but before and after, I had tenesmus (a feeling of fullness in the rectum), and rectal spasms. I'm still not 100%, even 4 months later.

I'm 23 and I think it went pretty well.
I had a few hemmorhoids but they were small so he left them. I just get so paranoid at the slightest prickle, pain or itch. I sometimes have to remind myself that I didn't have pain from the fissure unless I went to the bathroom. This just makes me nervous becuase it looks like another little hole, its on the outskirts of the anus.
One thing I think I've noticed (unless I never did before) is that when the pressure from a fart comes, I feel a quick pain in a certain part of the anus (same side of fissure, but higher up) before releasing. Not sure if its related.
Overall i think it went well, but occassionally I bend over and check things out (I couldn't see the fissure before) and now I noticed this. My mom said it could be from the gym and some irritation or hemmorhoid, I'm just worried because of the indent/hole look.
