Okay Here's my story, I had a bad urinary tract infection this past summer, and started developing red spots (kinda like blisters) that would come and go. I immediately thought that it was Herpes, and went and got tested. To my relief, the type specific test came back negative for both one and two. The red spots have come and gone every month or two, and are not raised, they are underneath the skin, and do not hurt, or burn or itch. I will get two or three at a time, and have come three times in the past six months. I seem to get them even when I am not sexually active with my girlfriend (she was tested as well, and came back negative) At first I thought they were just from friction and heavy sexual activity, now I am starting to think its not. My Urologist said he didn't think it looked like herpes, and I was tested for everything else. Is the Herpes test 100% acurate? I called the testing place today and they said it was 99% acurate, and that I did not need to get retested. My Urologist thinks I might have inflamation in my penis that might be causing the red spots, but I am not sure if he is 100% right. What else besides Herpes would cause red blisters to appear on your penis? I am going back to see my doctor next week, but just need some advice to hold me over til then. If anybody has any ideas or suggestions, I would really appreciate it. This site is a wonderful resource, and I appreciate any help!

If you tested negative, then chances are you're negative. What you could do is wait til the spots appear again and go back. The doctor can swab the sores and test that. If that is negative also, then I think you can rest assured that you are in fact negative.

i have the same thing (but im a girl)!!!! i started noticing these little red sores, they would come every couple weeks/months. they were lowered from the skin. they come in twos and threes. i have been monogamously (sp) with my boyfriend for about 3.5 years now and i wasnt really worried they were anything scary but i casually showed them to my doctor a couple weeks ago when i went in to get birth control and she said they didnt look like herpes, if they were she would "be extremly surprised" to quote her exactly. she said it just looked like an irritation of some sort. do you get really stressed out?? i do and i have been lately, i wonder if it's something from stress? i have them right above my clitoris (sorry to be graphic). they sometimes bother me when i let the hair grow back, i usually shave the whole thing, and i at first thought i had cut myself with the razor. do you shave your hair? where exactly do you have them? were you tested for EVERYTHING? i have been tested for gonnorea/chlmydia a couple years ago but that was when my bf and i first started dating and we havent been with anyone else. my gyno said i was very low risk for having herpes. please let me know what is going on with you, i freaked out when i saw your post bc ive been wondering about these too.

Update, I went to my doctor today, and he told me that the red spots were just dry skin, and to use lotion on it! I guess I have been saved and I am going to take this as a lesson well learned, and be more careful from now on. Thank you for everybody that gave me advice, these boards are defintely very useful, and I wish everybody the best of luck! :)
